Hot take: software doesn’t coordinate buildings
Hot take:
Hiring a VDC/BIM coordinator doesn’t automatically mean your project is coordinated.
And having the latest software doesn’t guarantee it either.
Navisworks can run 10,000 clashes in a single test.....but it doesn’t tell you which ones actually matter.
You can have 30+ people in a coordination meeting and still leave without real decisions being made.
The best coordination efforts don’t fail because of the model, they fail when teams treat VDC like someone else’s responsibility, or rely on software to do the thinking.
Successful coordination requires buy-in from every trade, timely model updates, decision-makers in the room, and trust in the process.
You get out what you put in.
When the whole team buys in, that's when VDC works to its full potential.
